چکیده

According to current anatomy, the arteries and veins do not have threadlike structures running inside the vessels. Despite such prevailing knowledge here we report on observation of a novel structure inside the blood vessels of rats and rabbits, which is a semi-transparent elastic bundle of tubules whose diameters are of 10μm order. This is a rediscovery of the Bong Han ducts1,2 which have not been confirmed because the observing method was not known. We found a new procedure of observing the intra blood vessel ducts (IBVD) which are too thin, fragile, and semi-transparent to be detected in ordinary surgical operation. The method we contrived is to let blood be coagulated around the IBVD so that they become thick and strong by intravenous injection of 10 per cent dextrose solution at the vena femoralis. A piece of thickened IBVD sample is treated with urokinase to remove blood clots and the thin thread of IBVD is embedded inside of a string of fibrin.

Method for Observing Intravascular BongHan Duct

A method for observing intra blood vessel ducts which are threadlike bundle of tubules which form a part of the BongHan duct system. By injecting 10% dextrose solution at a vena femoralis one makes the intravascular BongHan duct thicker and stronger to be easily detectable after incision of vessels. The duct is semi-transparent, soft and elastic, and composed of smaller tubules whose diameters ...

Use of Magnetic Nanoparticles to Visualize Threadlike Structures Inside Lymphatic Vessels of Rats

A novel application of fluorescent magnetic nanoparticles was made to visualize a new tissue which had not been detectable by using simple stereomicroscopes. This unfamiliar threadlike structure inside the lymphatic vessels of rats was demonstrated in vivo by injecting nanoparticles into lymph nodes and applying magnetic fields on the collecting lymph vessels so that the nanoparticles were take...

Feulgen reaction study of novel threadlike structures (Bonghan ducts) on the surfaces of mammalian organs.

Threadlike structures on the surfaces of internal organs, which are thought to be part of the Bonghan duct system, were first reported about 40 years ago, but have been largely ignored since then. Recently, they were rediscovered, and in this study we discuss the Feulgen reaction that specifically stains DNA in order to identify these structures on the surface of rabbit livers as part of the Bo...

In vivo visualization of bonghan ducts inside blood vessels of mice by using an Alcian blue staining method.

An in vivo method using Alcian blue (AB) was developed for visualizing floating threadlike tissues inside blood vessels of mice. These novel structures called intravascular Bonghan ducts (IBHDs) are considered as extension of acupuncture meridians. For in vivo imaging of IBHDs, AB solution (pH 7.4) that stains mucopolysaccharides like hyaluronic acid was used. After injecting AB solution into t...

Contrast-enhancing optical method to observe a Bonghan duct floating inside a lymph vessel of a rabbit.

Novel threadlike structures, so-called Bonghan ducts (BHDs), were recently rediscovered inside large caliber lymphatic vessels using two different staining dyes in rabbits (Janus green B and Alcian blue) and fluorescent nanoparticles in rats. These three methods have the drawback of injecting chemical agents into the lymphatic vessels, which might damage the BHD and hinder further investigation...
